Creating an account before paid membership
A prospective member creates and verifies an account before checkout. Confirmed payment activates the profile and creates the membership term.
One account and one person
A verified account is linked to one inactive person profile. Checkout uses that signed-in profile and does not create another person from the payment email address.
Payment activates membership
Returning from checkout does not create a membership. Military OS waits for Stripe to confirm the payment, then records the payment, creates the membership term, and activates the profile together.
Existing members
An imported member who has not signed in uses the separate account-activation route. Public responses do not disclose whether a particular member record or email address exists.
