Chapter pages and event calendars in Military OS

Find a Chapter from the home page, browse its news and events, and follow separate State and National decisions about wider calendar listings.

A Chapter can organise an event that is relevant beyond its own members. Its State organisation may want to list it, while National may make a different decision. The Chapter still needs to manage the event, its tickets and any changes to the details.

Military OS now connects Chapter discovery, local pages and wider event listings. The example below follows River Chapter, a fictional Chapter beneath Northern State in a demonstration association.

Find a Chapter and open its news and events

The home page’s Find a Chapter link opens the association’s directory. Visitors can search for a Chapter, open its page and move between Overview, News and Events. The overview shows upcoming events and recent news.

The same page navigation applies to other parts of the association, such as State organisations. These are called units: named parts of the association with their own place in its structure. Where a unit has units directly beneath it, a Units tab opens that next part of the directory.

River Chapter’s page in a fictional demonstration association. Its overview links to the Chapter’s news and events; the community workshop is one event throughout the example.

Choose List or Calendar

Events open in List view, including on phones. Visitors can switch to Calendar to see events by date, move between months or return to Today. Both views use the same events, filters and listing decisions. Selecting an entry opens the existing event page.

The association’s default view is curated. A separate All units view lets visitors browse public events across its units. A Chapter’s own public event can appear there while a request for the curated association calendar is still pending.

State and National make separate listing decisions

River Chapter publishes its community workshop locally, then requests listings on the State and National calendars directly. A listing means showing the existing event on another calendar.

A reviewer with current authority for Northern State can approve its request. The State calendar then shows the workshop, while the National request remains pending. National’s authorised reviewer makes a separate decision. State approval does not approve National’s request or give the State reviewer access to edit the Chapter’s event.

Every approved listing links to the same event page. Its organiser, tickets and history stay together. The practical decision is where an event should be shown and who reviews that calendar; wider visibility does not transfer responsibility for running it.

Watch the complete example

Watch the 6-minute Chapter pages and event calendars walkthrough. It follows homepage discovery, the Chapter’s news and events, List and Calendar views, and the separate State and National reviews.

The video follows real recorded product interactions with fictional records. Captions, a transcript and an expandable glossary accompany it. These controls are available in the current product; the demonstration does not publish a real association’s event.

Request a walkthrough to discuss your association’s structure, who manages events and who should review wider calendar listings.
