The organisation structure screen in Military OS

View units and leadership in an organisation chart, add a State level and review chapter moves before applying them. Includes a narrated tutorial.

An association can start with chapters reporting directly to national headquarters, then introduce a state layer as responsibilities change. Adding that layer and deciding which chapters belong beneath it are separate decisions.

The organisation structure screen now supports that process. A unit is a named part of the association, such as National HQ, a state organisation or a chapter. A level defines a kind of unit, such as State or Chapter.

A demonstration association: Capital Chapter sits beneath Demo State, while Coastal Chapter continues to report directly to National HQ. Selecting Capital Chapter shows its leadership roster alongside the chart.

See the structure and its leadership

The full-screen chart shows how units connect. Administrators can expand or collapse branches, search for a unit or leader, zoom and fit the chart to the screen. Selecting a unit shows its leadership positions and current appointments, with a link to manage that roster.

A position describes a responsibility, such as President. An appointment records who holds it and for what dates. Access to administration remains controlled by the existing permissions; appearing on the chart does not itself grant access.

National Executive Council leadership can sit at HQ without becoming an extra layer between headquarters and every chapter.

Add a level, then choose the moves

In the tutorial, the association begins with National HQ and its chapters. The administrator adds a State level, creates Demo State, then chooses to move Capital Chapter beneath it. Coastal Chapter stays directly under HQ.

The parent is the unit immediately above another unit. Changing Capital Chapter’s parent changes where it reports; it does not create a replacement chapter. Its existing records stay connected to it.

Before applying a move, the screen previews the access changes. If the move would invalidate an existing leadership appointment, it is blocked until that appointment is resolved. Adding a new level leaves existing chapters in place until an administrator explicitly chooses their moves.

Watch the setup

Watch the 3-minute 57-second organisation chart and hierarchy setup tutorial. It walks through the chart, the new State level, the move preview and a leadership appointment using demonstration records.

The tutorial uses narrated screenshots of the actual product. Captions and a written transcript accompany it. New terms are explained when introduced, and an expandable glossary beside the player lets viewers revisit them. On smaller screens the glossary appears below the video.

These structure controls are available in the current product. The example uses HQ, State and Chapter; associations can configure their own level names. A reporting change still needs an explicit decision about responsibilities and access, even when drawing the new branch is straightforward.
