Terms in this tutorial
Expand a term while you watch. The video keeps playing.
Unit One named part of the association, such as national headquarters, Demo State or Capital Chapter.
Level / unit type A category of units, such as State or Chapter. State is a type; Demo State is one named unit of that type.
Parent and child A parent is the unit immediately above another unit. Its children sit directly beneath it. Moving Capital Chapter under Demo State changes its parent.
Home unit and direct affiliations A home unit is a member’s main local unit, usually a chapter. Direct affiliations let people belong directly to units at a particular level, rather than only to units beneath them.
Position A named leadership office, such as President or Secretary. Definitions are shared by units of the same type.
Appointment and term An appointment records who holds a position. Its term runs from the start date through the end date, including both days.
Administration permissions The actions an account is allowed to perform, and where. A leadership appointment does not itself grant administration access.
Key and code Identifiers for a unit type or a named unit. The key state identifies the type; the code demo-state identifies the example unit. Labels and names are the wording people see.
