Importing members while keeping their membership history

Staff can import a member spreadsheet, check it before saving, and keep each person's earlier and current membership dates.

The import page records where the spreadsheet came from and opens it for review.

Matching spreadsheet columns

The import page accepts a general spreadsheet or files prepared from Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Mailchimp, and other association systems. Military OS suggests where common columns belong. Staff check those matches before saving anything.

Checking the file before saving

Military OS checks the person and membership details before applying the file. The people, membership dates, and import record are saved together.

Possible duplicate rows follow the client's matching and review rules. Military OS keeps the source, column matches, results for each row, and the time the file was applied.

Keeping membership dates

A person's membership is kept separately from their name and contact details. Each membership records its type, start date, end date, status, source, and notes.

Military OS uses those dates and the recorded status to determine whether the membership is current. Earlier memberships remain attached to the person.

An import can record membership history from before the association started using Military OS. Those imported terms are marked as migration records. After launch, new joins and renewals require confirmed payment.

The membership page shows recorded term totals and the paid products available at checkout.

Chapter access

Chapter duties are checked against the person's current chapter assignments. A duty that no longer matches an active assignment is removed or blocked.
